The easiest holiday display to install is one that has been mapped before anyone arrives with a ladder. This checklist helps Phoenix and Scottsdale homeowners decide what to light, what to buy, and what details to share when requesting a quote.
Pick the features people will actually see
Start with a photo from the street at dusk or in daylight. Mark the roof edge, peaks, entryway, garage, trees, pathways, gates, or courtyard features that you want to highlight. Decide whether you prefer a restrained architectural outline or a fuller display.
For Scottsdale homes with prominent courtyards and entry features, greenery or a focused roofline can be enough. For Phoenix properties with large front yards or mature palms, landscape lighting may become a bigger part of the plan. These are design choices, not a fixed recipe for either city.
Check the property details
Note roof material, gutter locations, mounting surfaces, height, and any hard-to-reach areas. Identify outdoor outlets and areas where cords would cross a walking route. An installer needs these details to plan suitable mounting and power rather than relying only on the front photo.
If the property belongs to an HOA or a business, check any display rules or approval timing before ordering materials. Include the approved installation and removal window when you request a quote.
Make a product list
List what you already own and test it before the installation date. For new items, think in groups: roofline bulbs and stringers; wreaths and garland for the entry; pathway lights and stakes; and the clips, timers, and power accessories that make the layout possible. Confirm exact lengths, sizes, and light colors before buying.
Put takedown on the calendar too
Ask whether takedown is included, where the products will go afterward, and whether the display can be labeled for reuse. Planning removal at the beginning avoids leaving the last part of the job unresolved.
What to send us
Send your city, property photos, the features you want lit, any rough measurements you have, the products you already own, preferred colors, and timing. That gives us a useful starting point for a custom installation and product plan.
